サウジノクラシ - Japanese radish and chestnuts 冬の楽しみ、大根＆栗

冬の季節(12〜2月)限定ですが、サウジアラビアでも大根や栗がスーパーで買えたりします。大根は長さ20cmくらいの小さなものです。都会のスーパーで栗を発見したときには感動のあまり即買い、栗ご飯を作ってしまいました。3月になると大根はしなび、栗は見かけなくなり、冬の終わりを感じます。。。

You will find a Japanese radish and chestnuts even in Saudi Arabia, though it is only during winter season (Dec-Feb). The Japanese radish here is a small one, just about 20 cm (8 inches) long. When I found chestnuts at a supermarket in a big city, I was soooo happy to buy it immediately and cooked kuri-gohan, boiled rice with chestnuts. In March, radishes get dried, chestnuts are rarely sold, and I feel that the winter?? is leaving…
